All you need to know about eSIM

Chances are that in your quest to get better on-the-go connectivity, you’ve heard about an eSIM. It seems to be a panacea for all your connection-related woes! And it could be. But let’s start from the start.

If you are looking for a way to have better connectivity even during your travels, then eSIM could be all you need.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a SIM card that is embedded in a mobile device. It can connect you to any operator offering eSIM services.

Both a traditional SIM and an eSIM work the same way. Unlike a physical SIM card, where you need to insert the card in a slot on the phone, an eSIM comes pre-installed in the phone. All you need to do to activate an eSIM is install an “eSIM profile” from your cell phone service provider.

The good news is that all new devices, be smartphones, laptops, or tablets, are now stocked with an eSIM card.

Advantages of switching to an eSIM

  1. Instant connection:
At the onset, one of the most visible advantages of an embedded SIM is that there is no physical SIM that needs to be inserted into the phone. This means getting a new connection or porting to a new service provider is much more seamless and instant.
  2. Damage-proof:
Since it is embedded in the device, the risk of physical damage is also almost negligible (almost because it could still get damaged).
  3. Difficult to hack:
From a security standpoint, eSIMs are more secure than their counterparts, as they cannot be duplicated, and hacking into these isn’t as easy as the physical SIM.
  4.  Easier to track:
Cell phone service providers have more control over eSIM than traditional SIM, which can be beneficial if the phone is stolen or lost and needs to be tracked.
  5.  Offers more cell phone profiles:
Unlike physical SIMs that only allow dual SIM storage option, with an eSIM, you could enjoy multiple and different carrier profiles.

All in all, cell phone service providers are moving toward eSIMs. If you want to enjoy these benefits too, then all you need to do is switch to an eSIM! And if your phone is eSIM enabled, then follow along to learn how to opt for an eSIM.
